Adoption Paperwork

Oh this is getting excited. I meet with Korbin’s social worker and mine on April 7 to sign all the adoption paperwork. I haven’t been this excited about paperwork in years. How Exciting! I think I said that already, but I guess you get it, it’s fun stuff.

On a side note, Korbin’s asthma has been bad the last few days. It seems to be mostly stress induced and I think he gets a little concerned when his birth name is thrown around a lot(I’ve been talking to the social workers on my commute to and from work). He started to get better once my mom got him a humidifier. Dang, that thing makes a world of difference. We have both been sleeping better. Him, since he’s not coughing or stuggling for air, or having me wake him every few hours for meds; and me, ’cause I’m not on heightened alert for every cough, shuffle, turn, whine, whimper, sniffle, etc. Sleep is so good. Especially when you haven’t seen the likes of it in hours.

Moving right along

The homestudy is done, the homestudy is done! I know…it only took, what, a year and a half. Nothing like having a social worker who likes to procrastinate. Anyway, she’s done and it’s been approved (or at least it should be or she should have called me by Friday. If all went as planned and it was indeed approved, she then handed it off to Korbin’s social worker and she can get to work on to the final pieces next week. I don’t know the court work loads or timeframes but we are hoping for a finalization court date by the end of summer. Soooo exciting. It’s not too much that is tangible right now, but it’s a start. Well, it’s a start to the finish.

Oh Happy Day!

Language

So Korbin is talking up a storm!  He can now say the following things:

 Where’d gramma go?

Mom, mom, mooooom

the cow says moooo

My shoes

Please mamma

No!

Where my mom?

Oh goodness.

Moe kacker please (translation: more cracker please)

My kacket (translation: my jacket)

Oh no, pot pot (translation: I think I just peed a little)

Moe juice wawa (translation: more juice)

Moe juice (translation: more milk)

dog-dog (translation: most animals larger than a duck; example, horse, goat, dog, dinosaur, or elephant)

qack, qack (translation: a duck or the sound a duck makes)

teet, teet (translation: a bird or the sound a bird makes)

I know there are more, but I can’t remember at the time.  I just want to document what I do know he can say so when he’s 10 and cares to ask, I’ll actually know.  :o )  Have a great weekend!

Snow Day

So after driving 2 hours and some change we arrived at a beautiful snow resort and realized there really wasn’t any child-friendly zone for Korbin to experience snow for the first time.  As we were heading back down hill hoping to find just an area off the street that is flat enough for a one year old to play for about 30 min or so we stumbled upon an elementary school and finally we were able to get out and experience all that this tail end of winter had to offer.  We also felt so motivated to get out while the weather was still nice.  We were playing in the snow and it was a whopping 50, maybe 60 degrees.  We finally took off our jackets because we were starting to get overheated.  Too funny!  Here are a few photos of the fun…
