The licensing foster care person came on Monday (I thought she was my foster care social worker, but it turns out I’ll see her once a year for a walk through and the social worker that is coming on the 6th of December is my main person). The appointment lasted about an hour and a half and she answered all of my questions. I’m looking forward to the adoption worker coming by next week because she will be the one placing a low-risk placement(s) in my home. These will be (if their bio’s get their parental rights terminated) my forever kiddos. I’m slowly getting excited but not until I actually hear from her mouth what my expected timeline is will I be truly excited. I’ve had so many ‘almosts’ in the last chunk of time that it takes a bit more than maybes to get my hopes up. You’ll hear more next week.
Temptation
Dear AT&T,
I am sorry to inform you that I will be making my cellular phone payment late this month. I was in a position where I should have known better yet Carter’s was right there. And upon entering said store there were sales. Beautiful, tempting sales. For less than $60 I purchased a ton of two-piece outfits, including jammies and socks. I know this is not something that may interest you, however I thought you would like to know my reasons for making a payment after it’s due date.
Sincerely,
Melanie
Phone Calls
Sooooo, I received a letter over the weekend that listed my adoption social worker, so I was patient, until today when I called her. No answer, so I left a message. Theeeeeen, I received a call an hour later, it was my foster care social worker (fcsw). I get two different social workers. Okay, not just me, that is how they work things. It was explained that first I get approved for foster care then I can receive a placement without waiting for my adoption approval. Which I will receive, it just takes longer (more in-depth medical forms and excess paperwork to fill out). My fcsw comes out next Thursday for what is likely to be a 1 1/2-2 hour appointment. She said, since I have my training completed and most likely all that I will need, she may not have to have more than one visit. I am assuming that she will then certify me (I don’t know how long that will take) and then she said placement happens fairly fast. Fairly fast, I haven’t heard that word this whole time. I was starting to think social workers where required to take the word ‘fast’ out of their vocabulary.
Since most foster care is considered a concurrent placement I can receive my child(ren) while their bio-parents are doing (or in my desire to adopt, not doing) what they are supposed to do and then in the same time I can complete everything I need to do for the adoption end. I see a light at the end of the tunnel and it’s progress, not a train! She was also going to inform my adoption social worker (asw) that she has set up an appointment with me so everyone is on the same page. You’ll hear from me again next week.
